Father Phillip Malcolm Edge...Father Phil as he is known to the congregation, was born in Greer, SC and graduated from Greer High in 1964.After a call to the ministry he entered Newberry College, graduated from North Greenville with a major in religion, then on to Furman University. He, like Moses, wandered in the desert for many years before returning to the church some 20 plus years later. But he was led back to the church in a new direction by a priest from a denomination different from that from which he had departed. After returning to an active role in the church he realized that God's call had never been lifted and the preparation must re-begin.He entered the Seminary of Christ the Crucified, an Orthodox Seminary, from which he earned a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (St.L) and was ordained a Deacon at St. Catherine's Monastery. He and his wife, Betty, founded St. Jude's Orthodox Church in Greer where they served for almost 6 years. During those years he was consecrated as Bishop in the Carolinas by the OCC. Then, something happened:God ledhim in new direction. In 2002 he and the Edge family became part of the Charismatic Episcopal Church where he was received as priest. He became Associate Rector of St. George's Cathedral and Ordinary (assistant) to the Bishop of South Carolina.Later he was named named Rector of St. George's Cathedral which was later renamed as Christ our King of Peace.
During that time he was awarded his Masters in Sacred Theology from St. Luke's School of Biblical Studies. He and his family, Betty and Katie reside on the campus of the church in the rectory.
