a message from our Rector
(Fr. Phillip M. Edge)
I'd like to personally welcome you to Christ Our King of Peace in Spartanburg, SC. We thank you for your interest and we welcome you with open arms to visit, worship and fellowship with us.
Our belief is that "Faith is an action, based on belief, sustained by God's Word and his Promise to fulfill it" (Dr. Scott) The New Testament author James tells us the "Faith without works is dead", therefore, we will challenge you to put your faith into action by ministering through evangelization, music, to the youth or in our Food Pantry. We have families from various religious backgrounds who have found us to be a safe haven for the seeker, as well as the long time Christian. A study of the First Century Church will find that those early Christians had 'three streams' of worship that defined who they were: charismatic (open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit); evangelical (proclaiming the 'good news' to all who would listen); liturgical ( they had a set pattern of worship) in the tradition of the Apostle Paul who admonished that everything "should be done in decency and in order".
Like those first Christians we have a blend of the "three streams"of worship so you'll be comfortable whether your background is Pentecostal, Evangelical or Catholic. As a 'spirit-filled liturgical community' we offer you a 'place for healing'. If you are anxious, depressed or broken; if you are a committed church member who feels like something is missing and there should have been more; or, if you are lonely, lost or desperate, we offer you a safe haven where you will be welcomed with open arms. We are all 'wounded healers' who believe the L.L. Nash quote that "the church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints". Our mission is to provide a place where redemption, restoration, reconciliation, renewal and rest can be experienced. We invite you to join us, and if you are seeking God, we feel sure that you will find Him here!
We look for you Sunday Mornings at 10:00 am!
May God Richly BLESS YOU this day and every day.
